Abstract

The current research aims to uncover the social and physical problems associated with foreign expatriate students at Al-Azhar University. Al-Azhar University is considered one of the international universities that teach the moderate Islamic religion, so it finds a strong demand from students from all countries of the world who want to study the curricula of the Islamic religion in order to work on preaching and calling for the religion of God. In their country, Al-Azhar University includes thousands of foreign expatriate students, according to statistics from the university’s statistics department, so we had to work to shed light on them and research their problems, and the field study was applied to different social segments of foreign expatriate students. This study belongs to descriptive studies using the social survey approach using a random sample from the study population, as well as an analytical case study through in-depth interviews. The researchers used the newspaper questionnaire, personal interview, and observation as tools to collect data from the research community. The research concluded with a number of results, the most important of which are: foreign expatriates’ feeling of loneliness within university cities, that the expatriate’s distance from his homeland makes him feel nervous, that there is an actual feeling of loneliness that afflicts the foreign expatriate, that there is no feeling of difficulty in dealing with the Egyptian dialect, and that expatriates are not exposed to bullying from some. Due to the difficulty of dealing with the Egyptian dialect and some research recommendations, it is necessary to provide all the requirements of expatriates so that they do not feel alienated and so that they receive education in comfort and harmony, and also to provide special medical and scientific services to these expatriates because they will be ambassadors for Egypt after their return.
