Peer Review Process

1- First: Submission of the research from the author:

The research submitted by the author is received through the journal's page on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank website https://jes.journals.ekb.eg/

Authors will first need to register their details, and can then submit their paper. If the author had any problem or unable to submit online should contact the Editorial Office at https://jes.journals.ekb.eg/

2- Second: Editing the research:

The editor-in-chief examines the research file sent by the author in light of the vision of the Journal of Environmental Sciences; to make sure of the following:

  • The title of the research corresponds to the journal specialization (Environmental Sciences disciplines).
  • The author's acknowledgment of scientific integrity, and submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else

3- Third: Research Revision:
Manuscripts submitted to Environmental Sciences are carefully reviewed in the first instance by one of the Editors. Manuscripts that do not meet editorial needs; are methodically flawed, or lack originality will be rejected. The manuscript will also be rejected if it fail to provide sufficient ethical approval where required (see Research and Publication Ethics) and the Manuscript will be referred back for revision before any review process if they do not comply with the Journal style. As the journal is using the double-blinded way in revision.

Manuscripts which pass the Editorial review will be sent out to peer review and will be reviewed by at least two external reviewers. Reviewers are asked to consider whether the paper: contains new research findings or information; is relevant to Environmental Sciences, is technically sound; and is suitably presented.

4- Fourth: publishing Decision:

The journal editorial board considers the feedback provided by the peer reviewers and arrives at a decision. The following are the most common decisions that are made:

  • Accept without any changes (acceptance): the journal will publish the paper in its original form

  • Accept with minor revisions (acceptance): the journal will publish the paper and asks the author to make small corrections

  • Accept after major revisions (conditional acceptance ): The journal will publish the paper provided the authors make the changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editors

  • Revise and resubmit (conditional rejection): the journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another round of decision-making after the authors make major changes

  • Reject the paper (outright rejection): the journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the authors make major revisions
