PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN CHILDREN WITH CHRONIC DISEASES

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between the psychological aspects and the quality of life for children with chronic diseases (diabetes - heart - cancer).
And verifying whether there are differences between children (study sample) according to the different type of disease and according to the difference in gender (males - females).
The sample consisted of a group of children with chronic diseases (cancer - heart - diabetes) in late childhood
The study used the following tools: primary data form (prepared by researchers), scale of psychological aspects of children with chronic diseases (prepared by researchers), scale of quality of life for children with chronic diseases prepared by researchers
The study concluded that there is a positive relationship between the psychological aspects and the quality of life of children with chronic diseases for the total sample. In all dimensions except for the anxiety dimension, the correlation was achieved only with the subjective quality of life dimension, so that children with chronic diseases generally suffer from disease disorders that are accompanied by anxiety, instability and fear of disease development, which may not be significantly affected by the quality of life.
