FINANCIAL EVALUATION OF THE CULTIVATION OF JOJOBA CROP IN THE AL-MAGHRA OASIS IN MATROUH GOVERNORATE

Abstract

The jojoba plant is considered one of the most promising new crops, and most suitable for agriculture in the Egyptian desert, which is considered one of the most suitable lands in terms of the nature of the land or the climate for cultivating this plant, which makes it benefit from these relative advantages and achieve a rewarding economic return from its cultivation, in addition to that products Jojoba is a raw material for many industries in the fields of cosmetics, medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, fuel, and industry in general. On this basis, spreading Jojoba cultivation has become one of the strategic hopes for increasing the economic worthiness of desert lands.    The problem of the search is in answering a set of questions that are represented in the following: Does investing in the jojoba orchards in the oasis of Al-Maghra in Al-Hamam Center in Matrouh governorate has an economic benefit or not? What is the degree of sensitivity of investment efficiency indicators to potential changes in the most important economic variables related? The research aimed at financial analysis of the jojoba crop in desert lands, and conducting a sensitivity analysis of the impact of economic and technical environmental variables on the economic viability of its cultivation.
The research found that the net present value according to the current situation has reached at a discount rate of 18% about 71.69 thousand pounds, the rate of internal return reached about 31%, and the ratio of current benefits to current costs amounted to 1.75, and the period of recovery of the invested capital amounted to about 3.27 years.
Based on the previous results, the research recommended the following: Expanding the cultivation of the jojoba crop on desert lands, as it has proven economically feasible.
