Abstract

This study aimed to verify the effectiveness of a counseling program based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in reducing internet addiction and psychopathic behavior in a sample of adolescents. The study sample included two groups of adolescents with internet addiction and psychopathic behavior: one was the experimental group, which received the CBT counseling program, and the other was the control group, which did not receive any experimental treatment. The researchers administered the Jung Internet Addiction Inventory and the Haar Psychopathy Inventory to the sample. CBT played an effective role in correcting cognitive distortions and developing self-control and social skills among the participants. The results demonstrated the program's effectiveness in reducing internet addiction and psychopathic behavior. Parents should closely monitor their children to ensure they are not susceptible to internet addiction and psychopathic behavior. Specialists should also follow up at schools, universities, and clubs.
