Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by exploring the interactive relationship between CSOs and the state, in light of growing developmental challenges and the incomplete transition toward comprehensive development. These challenges underscore the need to activate effective partnerships among various stakeholders to realize the desired transformation. The research is based on the premise that achieving sustainable development requires adopting innovative mechanisms rooted in the historical evolution of state–civil society relations, while also accounting for the specificities of the Egyptian context. The study focuses on two applied case studies—Tahya Misr Fund and the Egyptian Food Bank—as prominent models contributing to the SDGs, particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation, food security, health improvement, and environmental engagement. A quantitative methodology was employed using a structured questionnaire administered to a sample of 400 beneficiaries of both institutions. The findings indicate that the two organizations play a pivotal role in meeting the needs of marginalized groups. Based on these results, the study recommends strengthening the partnership between the state and civil society, reforming legal and institutional frameworks, and enhancing governance and transparency to ensure the sustainability of developmental outcomes.
