Abstract

This study aims to develop a proposed model to measure the effectiveness of drug control efforts in reducing treatment and environmental costs, applying it to the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, in light of the serious threat posed by drug abuse to public health and environmental and economic stability. The importance of the study stems from the need to evaluate the tangible impact of efforts made to combat this phenomenon on reducing the associated health and environmental burdens. The study examined and analyzed the most prominent causes of drug abuse and its negative effects. It also sought to demonstrate the relationship between the level of implementation of control strategies and the size of costs resulting from addiction treatment and environmental degradation. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and a questionnaire was used as the primary tool to collect data from a sample of (313) individuals. The data were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods to test the study hypotheses. The results showed a statistically significant direct correlation between the effectiveness of drug control efforts and the reduction of treatment and environmental costs, reflecting the direct positive impact of these efforts on reducing the financial and social burdens resulting from addiction. In light of the findings, the study recommends strengthening prevention and community awareness programs, particularly through school education and targeted media campaigns, and expanding partnerships between government agencies and the private sector to support community treatment centers and enable them to provide comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation services at affordable prices, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of the community's response to this phenomenon.
