EVALUATING THE CURRICULA OF COMMERCE INSTITUTES IN LIGHT OF SELECTED SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS TO FOSTER ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY AMONG STUDENTS

Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the curricula of commercial institutes in light of some sustainable development goals to develop environmental responsibility among students. The research followed the experimental approach through a single group. To achieve the research objectives, a list of sustainable development goals and their sub-elements was prepared, and the content of commercial courses was analyzed in light of this list. The tools were applied pre-test, then the two units were applied to the students, followed by the post-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the average scores obtained by students in the experimental group in the environmental responsibility scale before and after applying the two units that included sustainable development goals in favor of the post-test, which indicates the effectiveness of the two proposed units in developing environmental responsibility among commercial institute students. The research recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which is that in light of the lack of inclusion of dimensions of sustainable development goals in commercial courses, the content of these courses must be reviewed and each course must include related main and sub-topics related to sustainable development goals, as well as using the proposed development of the courses, especially the two proposed units.
