Abstract

This study aims to explore how the use of digital technology can impact the environment and its effect on reducing the carbon footprint resulting from administrative processes by: measuring the extent to which digital transformation reduces the consumption of resources such as paper and energy, assessing sustainability, identifying environmental emissions in paper-based administrative processes compared to digital ones, improving efficiency, supporting digital transformation, and increasing stakeholder awareness of the importance of reducing emissions from administrative activities. To achieve the research objectives, the study relied on the inductive approach, the deductive approach, and the comparative correlational descriptive method. The study reached several conclusions, including that emissions resulting from digital work activities are much lower than those from paper-based work activities, which may indicate that digital transformation leads to a reduction in the carbon footprint, especially with the effective use of electronic devices. The study concluded with several recommendations, including using email and cloud document management applications, providing training programs for employees on the importance of reducing paper use, installing solar panels for energy generation, managing waste sustainably, providing recycling bins in workplaces, and establishing a mechanism to monitor institutions' performance in reducing the carbon footprint.
