Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the role of foreign direct investment in achieving some of the sustainable development goals in Egypt by applying to the gas sector. The objectives of the study are two goals. The first objective is to identify the reality of foreign direct investment in the Egyptian gas sector, and to know and monitor the policies, procedures and incentives encouraging its attraction. The second goal is to study the impact of foreign direct investment in the gas sector on some sustainable economic development goals. To achieve these goals, the researcher relied on the inductive approach, which relies on the analytical method, as it is used to study foreign direct investment in the gas sector and its role in achieving sustainable economic development in Egypt. and presenting the obstacles that limit the attraction of foreign direct investment in the gas sector, as well as the use of the standard method, where the relationship between the independent variable, which is foreign direct investment, and the dependent variable, which is some sustainable development goals, is studied. The analysis was based on both descriptive statistics methods and analytical statistics methods. After analyzing the data, the results of hypothesis testing showed the following: There is a statistically significant effect of the volume of foreign direct investment in the gas sector on both the rate of per capita GDP, the rate of per capita consumption of natural resources, and the unemployment rate, and there is no effect of the volume of foreign direct investment. On the annual growth rate of GDP.
