Abstract

The aim of the research is to develop the environmental skills and values of the Ministry of Youth and Sports' science club attendees by designing an inquiry-based program in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals. The researchers identified five Sustainable Development Goals (clean water and personal hygiene, clean energy, life on land, climate action, and strong institutions). The program was then built around these goals using an inquiry method. An environmental skills test and a scale of environmental values were prepared. The experimental approach to the inquiry-based program was also used and applied pre- and post-tests to a group of trainees. The researchers found that there were differences between the scores obtained by the group of Ministry of Youth and Sports' science club attendees in the problem identification and perception test before and after implementing the program in favor of the post-test. There were also differences between the scores obtained by the group in the environmental problem-solving test before and after implementing the program in favor of the post-test. There were also differences between the scores obtained by the group in the environmental values scale before and after implementing the program in favor of the post-test. The study recommended the necessity of implementing the proposed inquiry-based program in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals.
