Abstract

The aim of this research was to reveal the effectiveness of an environmental cognitive-behavioral program to improve self-control skills of girls exposed to sexual deviance in shelters, and to verify the continued effectiveness of the environmental cognitive-behavioral program in improving self-control skills of girls exposed to sexual deviance in shelters after the follow-up period. The sample consisted of adolescent girls who had been exposed to sexual deviance and suffered from low self-control skills. They were divided into two groups: a control group and a deviant group. An experimental group was administered an environmental cognitive-behavioral program. Research tools included a sexual deviation scale prepared by Ibrahim, a self-regulation skills scale, and the environmental cognitive-behavioral program (prepared by the researchers). The research results demonstrated the effectiveness of the environmental cognitive-behavioral program in improving self-regulation skills among girls exposed to sexual deviance in residential institutions. The program's effectiveness in improving self-regulation skills among girls exposed to sexual deviance in residential institutions continued after the follow-up period.
