Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of blue economy tools in achieving sustainable development goals in the Egyptian maritime transport sector, with a focus on identifying the requirements and challenges facing the sector. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach and the field research approach using questionnaires to collect data from employees in Egyptian maritime transport companies. The sample size was determined from employees in companies in Greater Cairo and their regional branches affiliated with the Egyptian maritime transport sector. The results showed that blue economy tools are available at a high level in the maritime sector, which reflects the readiness of this sector to benefit from marine resources. The study also showed a positive and substantial impact of blue economy tools on achieving sustainable development, especially in the economic, environmental and social dimensions. It was found that the economic dimension is the most affected by the blue economy, as it explains about 75% of this dimension, indicating the need to enhance investments in areas such as energy. Despite the positive impact, the study indicated that the blue economy explains the largest part of renewable energy and sustainable fishing and explains a smaller part of the variance in technological innovation, which calls for increasing investments in this field. It also highlighted the need to adopt policies that support the sustainability of marine resources and reduce marine waste. The study recommended the need to develop port infrastructure and improve management Marine resources in addition to enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors to support blue economy projects
