THE ROLE OF APPLYING ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IN IMPROVING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS A FIELD STUDY ON LOCAL INDUSTRIES

Abstract

The study aims to identify the impact of applying small management systems in its dimensions (environmental policy, planning, implementation and operation, corrective inspection and environmental review) in improving the competitiveness of industrial products in its dimensions (quality - human resources - market share - reputation). In this regard, a questionnaire was prepared with the aim of collecting the necessary information from the study sample, and the descriptive analytical model was relied upon and through statistical analysis of the sample's responses to the questionnaire. After testing the study hypotheses, the results showed that there is a significant impact of the role of applying environmental management systems in improving the competitiveness of industrial products, as well as a significant impact of the role of environmental policy in improving the competitiveness of industrial products, as well as a significant impact of the role of planning in improving the competitiveness of industrial products, in addition to a significant impact of the role of implementation and operation in improving the competitiveness of industrial products, and finally there is a significant impact of the role of corrective inspection and administrative review in improving the competitiveness of industrial products. The study recommended the necessity of enhancing environmental awareness within institutions in order to maintain the application of environmental management systems and continue to preserve the environment, and supporting the interest of senior management in institutions to achieve their future commitments within the framework of environmental management systems, in addition to spreading environmental awareness on a wider scale and establishing environmental culture in the minds of senior management and employees and conducting awareness campaigns for them in the field of environmental protection.
