THE EGYPTIAN ELECTRONIC NEWSPAPERS’ TREATMENT OF THE CORONA PANDEMIC AN ANALYTICAL AND FIELD STUDY

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the extent of Egyptian electronic newspapers’ interest in the Corona pandemic, how to treat it, and the goals they aim to achieve through this treatment, and to reveal the mechanisms and method of media treatment of the Corona pandemic in Egyptian electronic newspapers. The research used the survey method, both descriptive and analytical, and represents the research community. On Egyptian electronic newspaper sites, the size of the research sample was three from Egyptian electronic newspaper sites that represent Egyptian newspapers in their various orientations (“Al-Ahram Portal,” “Youm Seventh Website,” and “Al-Wafd Portal”). The research tools were a content analysis form for the templates and contents used by the sites. Egyptian electronic newspapers in covering the Corona pandemic. The results of the research showed that Egyptian electronic newspaper websites focused on live images, video, and graphics. The press release was also one of the most important journalistic templates, and texts, infographics, and images were the most important methods of presenting topics related to the Corona pandemic. These sites were also used. Mental and emotional persuasion methods during the research period. The most important features of dealing with the news of the Corona pandemic on those sites were the positive and neutral features. Also, the framework of responsibility, the solutions and proposals, and the warning frame came, respectively, as one of the most important ways of dealing with topics related to the Corona pandemic on those sites during the study period, as well. The results showed that there is a strong, positive and significant correlation between each of the persuasion methods used and the frameworks for how Egyptian electronic newspaper websites deal with topics related to the Corona pandemic on the one hand, and the goals that electronic newspaper websites seek to achieve health awareness for citizens through topics related to the Corona pandemic on the other hand, and I recommend Researching the necessity of providing all financial, technical and technical support to the media to implement the effective positive impact of confronting the Corona virus Covid-19.
