QUALITY OF LIFE AND ITS RELATION TO PSYCHOLOGICAL EMOTIONAL STABILITY AND MOTIVATION TOWARDS EXCELLENCE IN CHILDREN A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN URBAN AND RURAL IN DIFFERENT SOCIO-ECONOMICAL ENVIRONMENTS

Abstract

This study aims at two basic objectives: The first is, trying to know the relation between both subjective and objective indicators of quality of life and psychological emotional stability in gifted children with high academic-achievement from different socio-economic environments, and either from urban or from rural areas in Egypt.
And the second objective of the study is, trying to know the relation between quality of life and the levels of motivation towards excellence among gifted children with high academic-achievement from different socio-economic environments, either from urban or from rural areas in Egypt, on the following measures, emotional intelligence, ambition, having the needed skills to deal with technology, having the needed abilities to deal with words, concepts and communicating using correct suitable language.
The Sample of the Study consists of (217) of eighth grade males and females students with high academic achievement, from different urban and rural areas in Egypt and belong to different socio-economic environments. Their ages are between (12&15) years old. Twelve governmental schools participate in the study -(6) are from different rural Egyptian areas and the other (6) schools are from different districts in Cairo governorate . There are two different types of schools, (6) schools represent the languages experimental governmental schools and the other (6) represent governmental schools - learning in the Arabic language- . The Descriptive correlation comparative method is used .
The researcher used measurements and scales for the following:

Socio-Economic levels of all the families of the sample of the study.
Families Environments.
Houses and surroundings Physical Environments.
Schools Environments.
Schools and surroundings Physical Environments.
Psychological Emotional Stability.
A battery to measure motivation towards excellence Among Students with high academic achievement on the following measures:

Emotional intelligence, Ambition, having the needed skills to deal with technology having the needed abilities to deal with words, concepts and communicating using correct suitable language.
The results showed that:
1- There are statistical significant differences in the levels of psychological emotional stability in gifted children with high academic achievement and these differences are for the sake of the students from urban areas, who belong to environments with high quality of life.
2-  There are statistical significant differences in the levels of motivation towards excellence among gifted students with high academic achievement and these differences are for the sake of the students from the urban areas, who belong to environments with high quality of life.
