THE ROLE OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN ELIMINATING SLUMS AS ONE OF THE STATE’S STRATEGIES IN CONFRONTING CRIMES OF TERRORISM AND RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM - AN ANALYTICAL STUDY

Abstract

The current study aimed to explain and analyze the position of the Egyptian state to confront the crimes of terrorism and religious extremism by developing an integrated development strategy. Reform and development in general are inversely proportional to crime and its rates. Economic, industrial or agricultural development is one of the aspects of confronting terrorism and extremism by providing job opportunities for young people. The doors are closed for terrorist organizations to include new elements.Based on the comprehensive Egyptian approach to combating terrorism and confronting extremist ideology, and believing that sustainable development and economic and social prosperity contribute to creating an environment that repels terrorism and extremism and uprooting their main roots, the state has made unremitting efforts to advance the Egyptian economy and its indicators and develop infrastructure and digital transformation projects, in conjunction with adopting Initiatives to improve the social conditions of citizens, especially in the areas of health, education, and the empowerment of women and youth, as well as interest in spreading awareness and correct thinking about development issues and confronting rumors promoted by misleading terrorist groups.The state launched the “Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030” in February 2016 to represent the national version of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the Africa Agenda 2063, and the general framework regulating the interim work plans and programs during the coming years. The state was keen to ensure that the preparation, formulation, implementation, as well as the modernization process This vision is being implemented according to a participatory approach that includes, in addition to the government, the private sector, civil society and all partners, with special attention to the role of youth and women in achieving development.
