Abstract

People with intellectual disabilities show more behavioral problems than their ordinary peers, and they also lack adaptive behavior skills, so they need to learn daily life skills such as: self-care, independence and directing their behaviors towards the environment. Through educational activities, children acquire a lot of the daily life skills they need, and they also need to be connected more to practical life.
Hence, the research aimed to verify the effectiveness of some educational activities on developing of daily life skills and pro-environmental behaviors of children with intellectual disability in schools of intellectual education. The application was carried out on a sample of students of the school of intellectual education at the Zaytoun educational department, Cairo governorate. The researcher has prepared the study tools, namely: a daily life skills observation card, and a pro-environmental behaviors observation card. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the experimental group in the two measurements before and after applying of educational activities for the daily life skills observation card in favor of the post measurement, and there was a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the experimental group in the two measurements before and after applying of educational activities for the pro-environmental behaviors observation card in favor of the post measurement, and there were no statistically significant differences between the male and female study sample after the application of both observation cards (daily life skills, pro-environmental behaviors).
