Abstract

Food provides us with the basic elements to achieve balanced healthy nutrition, and these needs vary from one individual to another, the stage of growth he is going through, and his health status, and good health begins with eating balanced food containing all the nutrients taken from the food groups that the body needs, and our different eating habits promote health, and what harms it, Hence, the problem of research crystallized in the continuous population increase, which led to an increase in demand for different food groups to provide the necessary nutritional needs to maintain a balanced health level and safe nutrition, which called for the need to study the extent of change in the quantities of production and available for consumption and net food and the average annual per capita food groups plant, animal and fish, It was found that there is a significant decrease statistically for the total production of plant products, which affected the average annual per capita of them statistically significant decrease, and it was also found that there is a significant increase in the total production of animal products, which led to a decrease in the average annual per capita of them, and it was found that there is a statistically significant increase in the total production of the fish group, but it turned out that there is a non-significant decrease in the average per capita of them, during the study period The study used the descriptive and quantitative analytical method represented in the equation of simple linear regression and the study recommends several recommendations, including the need to increase the agricultural area to reach the optimal rate of self-sufficiency through the implementation of horizontal expansion plans, which means the reclamation of new lands added to the agricultural area, As well as the implementation of vertical expansion plans by developing new breeds of strategic crops and working to support projects for breeding heads producing red meat and dairy and supporting fish production requirements, through the establishment of fish farms with high production capacity for local varieties.
