Abstract

The study aimed to monitor the social risks that threaten the historical urban communities، identify the physical risks، and identify the environmental effects of the social and physical risks on the historical urban community.
And provide solutions about the social risks resulting from the low level of education in the historical urban areas، unemployment and the spread of negative use of the Internet at the level of all ages، and provide solutions to the physical risks of the problems of frequent fires and the accumulation of solid waste in most streets and the deterioration of restored monuments and the return of the problem of the high level of groundwater in a way that impedes use place، and come up with an environmental pilot proposal that addresses social risks and their environmental impacts and increases the effectiveness of development plans for historical urban areas.
The study used several approaches، the descriptive analytical approach and the case study approach. The study was applied to a random sample of 100 families from Al-Darb Al-Ahmar
One of the tools used in the study was the in-depth interview with community members and experts، and systematic observation
The results showed the following

There is a positive relationship between social risks and their environmental impacts on historical urban communities
There is a positive relationship between physical hazards and environmental hazards
There is a direct relationship between increasing environmental awareness of environmental problems and preserving historical urban communities
In light of the results، the study recommends the following:


Reducing the issuance of permits for craft workshops working with hazardous or non-hazardous materials within the historic urban residential block
Expanding and encouraging commercial activity that relies on traditional crafts and providing administrative and material facilities for it in order to reduce unemployment and migration of indigenous people and to stimulate the economy of traditional crafts
The need for civil society organizations to raise social awareness of the negative use of the Internet and its negative impact on family members
All of the experts interviewed recommend a presidential initiative for integrated development that works on the social and physical aspects of historic urban communities
Establishing an environmental education center to raise environmental awareness of physical hazards and how to deal with them
