Abstract

Nations seeking for development have realized that the only way to achieve sustainable development is to invest in human resources through education, and that spending on education is the best investment that the state can do to prepare human capital capable of achieving sustainable development. In light of the successive social and economic pressures and the demand for providing high-quality educational services, achieving social justice and equal opportunities, and the state’s desire to improve its competitiveness at the global level, the issue of financing university education has captured the attention of most countries of the world, and has concluded that it is necessary to search for new and diverse sources of funding for education. University, and in the context of searching for a suitable alternative, reviving the idea of educational endowment in its contemporary form - the most important of which are: academic chairs and endowment funds - is one of the most important alternatives that have proven successful in financing higher education, and international experiences in the United States of America and Saudi Arabia were among the most important pioneering experiences worthy of study and attention in order to reach new sources of financing university education in Egypt..
