PARENTING SKILLS, PERSONALITY TYPES AND THEIR EFFECTS ON CHILDREN IN A SAMPLE OF GRANDPARENTS AND FATHERS : A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON RURAL AND URBAN SAMPLE

Abstract

The researcher carried out a descriptive study to know the relationship between Parenting skills and personality types in a sample of grandparents and fathers, and to know the differences between the two groups in Parenting skills and personality types using Parenting skills scale and personality types prepared by Riso & Hudson, 1996, and adapted to Arabic by the researcher
The results: revealed the following:There are statistically significant correlation coefficients among positive parenting, personality types: motivator, inventor, learner, follower, hero and peace maker There are statistically significant differences between the two groups in personality types: motivator, the good, the follower and the hero. Grandparents were higher than fathers in personality type (the hero) and wives were higher in the motivator, the good and the follower. There are statistically significant differences between the two groups in parenting skills in the sake of fathers.
