Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify social networking sites on the development of national identity among university youth of both sexes. The total research sample consisted of (400) male and female university students divided into two groups, where the first group consisted of (250) male and female students from Ain University. Shams" and (150) male and female students from "Benha University", the research tools included a questionnaire "The Impact of the Internet and Resources". The impact of social communication on the development of national identity among university youth” prepared by the researcher, and the results of the research concluded that there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the Ain Shams University sample and the Benha University sample for each of the axis of characteristics and characteristics of Internet users, and the relationship between social and psychological influences and the rate of use Youth to the Internet, the motives of university youth using the Internet, and the psychological and social influences that connect the concept of national identity among university youth who use the Internet and the total score of the questionnaire, while it was not clear that there were differences between the mean scores of Ain Shams University sample and Benha University for each of (the axis of interaction rate between Users of the Internet from university youth and others and its impact on national identity) and the research recommended the need to invest in social networks in a positive way because it is an appropriate opportunity to help the Egyptian state through these sites and to attract young people by realistic and appropriate means that simulate their daily lives in a simple language far from complexity and installation, as well as the need to subject social networks to more From in-depth analytical and field studies to benefit from them in monitoring currents and trends Brief public opinion about national issues, the motives for the uses and gratifications achieved from them, while teaching university youth the positive values and trends and avoiding negativity and thinking about isolation in the virtual society, so that we can enable them to distance themselves from the dangers of the virtual society.
