Abstract

The current study aimed at identifying the social and environmental problems associated with working in mines and quarries and their impact on job satisfaction. It belongs to a pattern of descriptive studies based on a case study approach, using many tools like observation, interview, documentation, and records. The sample included 30 case studies; the researchers took into account that the sample should be representative of all the site employees. The study concluded with many results, for social problems are. Job alienation and family conflict, the poor educational achievement of many workers children, indifference, introversion that is noted by the frequent absence and unwillingness to continue working. Poverty, malnutrition, and child labor. Finally, dissatisfaction with health insurance system. For environmental problems, were air pollution, noise pollution, extremely high temperatures in the summer and low temperatures in the winter. In addition, lack of environmental awareness of these problems and their negative effects. All of these problems have had a direct and indirect impact on job satisfaction of workers in the field. Finally, the study recommends increasing attention to that environment to maximum degree, taking into account continuous improvement and development as well as good training, development of appropriate training programs that help to gain knowledge and experience. Listening to staff problems and try to find quick solutions to them. Moreover, to take into account promotions and incentives according to a particular policy. Involving them in the process and that aims at achieving organizational effectiveness and thereby enhancing productivity.
