IMPACT OF WORKERS' EMPOWERMENT ON IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL AND COMPETITIVE PERFORMANCE AN APPLIED STUDY ON DAMANHOUR CARPETS FACTORY

Abstract

Successive environmental variables prompted organizations to search for all strategies through which distinction is achieved in their environmental and competitive performance depending on their resources particularly human resources as considered the main motive for raising efficiency and performance of any organization and as one of main sources for innovation and creation, in order that this resource can achieve these aimed results, it should be supported and developed and its apparent and hidden knowledge should be exploited and providing an intact organizational climate that provides clear and definite strategic vision that allows for creation, participation and cooperation between all different organizational levels and using appropriate modern administrative methods in framework of organized strategies that work on finding appropriate coordination between different levels particularly in field of improving environmental and competitive performance for these organizations and giving opportunity for specialized competences that are able to serious field work and moving away from stable administrative methods and eliminating negative organizational obstacles on organization's performance in general and environmental and competitive performance in particular, concept of worker' empowerment is considered from the most important modern administrative concepts that aim at freeing hidden abilities and energies for workers through developing their abilities and giving them competences for making appropriate decision to include non-leaders of workers and inferiors, and exchanging views with them and consulting them, benefiting from their recommendations and proposals which are reflected on the individual and the organizations which can be utilized from in improving environmental and competitive performance of organization.  Research hypotheses included the existence of correlative relationship between workers' empowerment on environmental performance and the existence of correlative relationship between worker's empowerment and competitive performance, the research aimed at identifying concept of workers' empowerment and its significance and its relationship to some other concepts, and identifying both of environmental performance and competitive performance, the analytic descriptive methodology for forming theoretical framework of research, data was collected through a questionnaire form as a main tool for research through a sample that consists of (230) workers in damanhour carpet factory, results concluded that there is an abstract significant relationship at abstract level of (0.01) between workers' empowerment and environmental performance of the organization while there was no abstract impact for workers' empowerment on competitive performance.
