THE SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL VARIABLES OF THE PHENOMENON OF "WOMEN SMOKING" AN ANALYTICAL STUDY ON SMOKING WOMEN OF CAFES AND CLUBS GOERS

Abstract

This current study is interested in identifying the social and psychological variables associated with women' smoking phenomenon such as family and income, in addition to anxiety and depression in smoking women. In order to achieve this objective, the study counts on the descriptive-analytical method with social survey. The researcher has designed a questionnaire form to fulfill this study, to be applied to (150) items of smoking women,visitors of coffees and clubs in Cairo governorate. The field study has started in February 2020 and lasted to September 2021, within which, the theoretical framework of the study has been written, the previous studies have been collected, commented on and the field study is fulfilled starting from preparing the questionnaire form and until application, collecting data, administering the statistical analysis of data, in addition to extracting results, explaining them, commenting and writing the proposed recommendations.
The most important results of study are as follows: There is no statistically significant correlation between the variable of education level and smoking rate. There is a direct significant statistical correlation between the variable of monthly income and variable frequency of smoking/per day. There is no statistically significant correlation between the variable of academic certificate or the educational level,  the awareness level and the health culture level. The higher ratio of the working woman in the study sample,denoting the purchasing power of smoke and the smoking woman's financial independence. The higher impact of smoking on the attitude towards drugs among smoking women. There is a statistically significant direct correlation between smoking of parents and the attitude of the respondent towards smoking. The higher rate depression and thinking in suicide rates among the study sample. The higher rate of anxiety in the study sample.
 
The study therefore recommends: Increasing the locations of clinics and smoking cessation centers in all Egyptian hospitals and universities. Preparing programs to quit smoking or rehabilitate the victims of relapse and conduct studies aimed at knowing the effectiveness of these programs. Strengthening the curricula to raise awareness of the harms of smoking to public health and to women in particular by adding the topic of smoking harms to the science curriculum in the preparatory stage because it is the most dangerous as most smokers turn to smoking at this age. Enacting more laws that tighten the screws on the practice of smoking in public places and imposing exorbitant fines for violators. Raising the prices of smoke and increasing taxes on it and preventing the import of tobacco from abroad. The necessity of having a political will to address the phenomenon of smoking and developing a strategy to implement a program that aims to eliminate smoking under the slogan “Egypt free of smoking” similar to “Egypt free of C virus.” This strategy is limited to a maximum period of 3 years. Suspending licenses for tobacco factories, molasses and smoking-based industries, prosecuting security violators like drug dealers, and banning the import of all types of smoke.
