Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of excessive use of the Internet and its relationship to the personality and environmental behavior of the students of the basic education stage. In a deliberate way, they were applied to the Internet use scale (prepared by researchers) consisting of (15) items, the personality style scale (prepared by researchers) consisting of (15) items, and the environmental behavior scale (prepared by researchers) consisting of (15) items after verifying the validity of the stability of all tools.
The results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the degree of basic education students’ use of the Internet due to the two variables (the number of hours of Internet use) in the direction of the male sample, and there were no differences due to each of the variables of family income and age. In addition to the existence of a positive and statistically significant correlation between excessive use of the Internet and personality type, and there is also an inverse, statistically significant relationship between excessive use of the Internet and environmental behavior among students of the basic education stage.
The study recommends: Designing a counseling program to educate basic education students about the pros and cons of excessive use of the Internet. Instructing students about the importance of using the Internet in developing a personality style. Awareness of basic education students of the negatives of excessive use of the Internet on their environmental behavior. Develop a plan of activities that includes a set of programs that will regulate the hours of student use of the Internet and select the nature of use.
