ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO PARENTING SKILLS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AMONG A SAMPLE OF RURAL AND URBAN ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

Environmental stress is a concept that refers to those physical and psychological effects that fall on a person, either for natural causes such as disasters, floods and earthquakes, or for reasons due to the individual’s depletion of the environment’s resources without taking into account the consequences of that, such as pollution, which negatively affects the individual, whether in the form of physical diseases or nervous and psychological tensions that affect On the performance and responsibilities of the individual within the community. The current study aimed to know the impact of environmental pressures on parenting skills and social responsibility and to apply this to a sample of male and female adolescents in rural and urban areas. Environmental), (Scale of Parenting Skills) and (Scale of Social Responsibility) on students in public schools.
 
The study reached some results, the most important of which was the presence of statistically significant differences in parenting skills in favor of the rural sample, as well as the absence of a statistically significant relationship between environmental stresses and social responsibility. The study also came out with a set of recommendations, the most important of which are seminars and lectures that help parents provide the optimal form of social responsibility for their families and psychological and social follow-ups for children in schools to know the extent of parents’ consideration of social responsibility towards their children and their families and to spread awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and how to get rid of environmental pressures Avoiding it while spreading awareness of the damages resulting from environmental pressures and its impact on children and families, and allocating places and services for real individuals under the influence of environmental pressures and treating them from pressures using modern and scientific methods.
