Abstract

Poultry production sector occupies an important place among the sectors of animal production, as one of the main sources of animal protein in Egypt in general and in the New Lands in particular. This sector contributes an effective contribution in the value of animal production in Egypt. The study aims to identify the volume of poultry production in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the New lands, besides study the most important factors affecting the production of broiler and farms in New Lands, moreover to measure the productive and economic efficiency of projects of production of broiler farms in New Lands, to identify the most important problems and constrains facing producers and impeding the operation of these farms to achieve the full scale ,these objectives, lead to set the proposal of appropriate solutions.

The study findings indicated that the main affected factors in the broilers production were; the number of chickens, quantities of fodders, veterinary care and the human labors. Study results indicate that, the second and third-scale farms (50000-less than 7500 chicks) , (more than 7500 chicks) operate within the economic stage of production, where their elasticities have been estimated at 1.2 and 1.11, respectively reflecting a decreasing return to scale. It is also indicated that the third production scale more economic efficiency than the first and second scales. which had proved the economize of scale of big industrial farms which achieve the highest net return in addition to lower costs at the unit level productivity.
