THE ECOLOGY OF DEVELOPMENTAL PARTICIPATION OF EGYPTIAN WOMEN AND THE EXTENT OF ACTIVATION OF THE MEDIA ROLE TOWARDS IT

Abstract

The current study drives at identifying the impact of the environmental dimension on woman's participation in the development fields; identifying as well, the dimensions of the impact resulting from the different environments of society and the extent of activating the role of media towards woman's participation in society. The study sample consists of (100) items of women, divided into (65) female beneficiaries from permanent organizations for women and (35) from the elite, women' cadres and leaders. The sample characteristics are considered, and the study has been applied to the East Cairo. The study has used the social survey method, a questionnaire and interview as tools to collect data.
The results of the study indicate a relationship exists between the environmental dimension and woman's participation in development. There is also a relationship between cultural heritage and woman's participation. emphasizing that values, customs and traditions impede women's participation and that media does not play its role in development. The study recommends intensifying the efforts of the National Council for Woman and to pay attention to women in the popular areas in addition to cooperation of the state's agencies and organizations to concern with developmental media invest in women' efforts. The state should also concern with the developmental role of the media in adopting development plans and correcting the negative image of woman in the media
