A PROGRAM BASED ON THE USE OF THE SIX THINKING HATS TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS AND CONCEPTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY FOR PREP SCHOOLS STUDENTS

Abstract

The study aims at developing the skills and concepts of environmental security for preparatory students by using the six thinking hats program. This goal was achieved by helping the previous studies and research that related to the subject of the study. Also a using of research tools that benefit the current study. The study depended on the semi-experimental approach by using some tools such as the questionnaire to explore and determine the current state of environmental security skills and concepts for the sample of study, and preparing a suggested training program for developing skills and concepts of environmental security through the six thinking hats program, Then preparing a scale for environmental skills and environmental concepts test to determine the degree of achieved objective of the proposed program in addition to verify its validity and reliability toward the experimental study group among the prep students who number (50) male students. A pre-application of the environmental skills scale and environmental concepts test were made on the experimental group before teaching the proposed program for this study, Then the activities of the proposed program were applied by using the six thinking hats program. At the end a post-application of the environmental skills scale and environmental concepts test were applied to the group of study.
Where the study reached several results the most important of them: There are statistically significant differences between the preparatory students on environmental concepts test before and after applying the program in favor of a post-application. There are statistically significant differences between the preparatory students on the scale of environmental skills before and after applying the program in favor of a post-application.
The most important recommendations of the study was the necessity of spreading awareness of the importance of environmental security in education stages in general and pre-university education in particular and the most benefits are getting by using the program that based on six thinking hats strategy, In addition to the necessity of integrating it into the school curricula, especially which depend on higher levels of thinking, Also students and teachers are enabling to refer to it and benefit from its scientific content.
