THE ROLE OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP IN ACHIEVING ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL CITIZENSHIP (FIELD STUDY OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN NEW CAIRO)

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the transformational leadership role of private school principals in New Cairo in achieving organizational commitment and environmental citizenship among teachers, The study relied on the descriptive approach, A questionnaire was developed for data collection purposes, The researcher distributed 400 questionnaires, (346) were retrieved, with a rate of (86.5%).
The results of the study showed that the perceived value of teachers for the independent variable (transformational leadership) was relatively moderate, Where the best was the dimension (inspirational stimulus) and the lowest was the dimension (idealistic or charismatic effect), As for the reality of organizational commitment, the results showed that the level of achieving them was moderate, Where the best of them was the dimension (emotional commitment) and the lowest was the dimension of (continuous commitment), There is also a positive and medium significant association between transformational leadership and organizational commitment, And that what you assessed (36.8%) of the changes in the first dependent variable (organizational commitment) resulted from changes in the independent variable (transformational leadership), With regard to the realities of environmental citizenship, the results showed that the level of their achievement was moderate, with the best being the dimension of (environmental responsibility) and the lowest being the dimension of (environmental justice), The study also showed the existence of a moderate positive correlation relationship with statistical significance at the level of (0.005) between transformational leadership and enhancing environmental citizenship for teachers, And that (26.9%) of the changes in the second dependent variable (environmental citizenship) are the result of changes in the independent variable (transformational leadership).
The study recommended that the characteristics of transformational leadership be included in the criteria for selecting educational leaders, And the provision of technical and administrative staff in each school in order to reduce the burden of school work on teachers, Continuing education and knowledge increase regarding the importance of preserving the environment.
