EFFECT OF A PROPOSED TELEVISION PROGRAM IN DEVELOPING THE SKILLS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS OF THE POPULATION COMING TO SINAI

Abstract

The study aimed to developing environmental skills and ethics among the population coming to Sinai thrugh the prepared media message in a proposed environmental TV program in Several tools were used: Recorded TV episodes, an environmental skills measure and an environmental ethics scale was applied on the study sample before exposing the study sample to the episodes of the program prepared for the study. the sample consisted of 200 individuals from the population arriving to Sinai from the governorates of Egypt, and then applying the post test after exposing them to the TV program.
The most important results were the following: There are statistically significant differences between the degrees of individuals (the experimental group) in the scale of environmental skills (skill of awareness and identification of the problem) before and after the application of the television program in favor of post application. There are statistically significant differences between the degrees of individuals (the experimental group) in the scale of environmental skills (the skill of proposing solutions to the environmental problem) before and after the application of the television program in favor of the post application. There are statistically significant differences between the degrees of individuals (the experimental group) in the scale of environmental ethics before and after the application of the television program in favor of the post application.
The study recommended the creation of specialized environmental television programs that discuss contemporary environmental issues and focus on that skill and ethical aspect in dealing with the environment.
