Abstract

This research aims to emphasize the need to expose journalists specializing in the environment from the various media to simulation programs to manage crises and environmental disasters and to address the low level of information and trends towards crises and environmental disasters among relevant journalists. It is also considered inductive research, so it relied on the descriptive approach to present the models, development and results of simulation software, as well as the semi-experimental approach in which the experimental design of the experimental group is used to identify the effect of an independent variable. A number of tools were also used, the most important of which is the questionnaire and testing to study the subject before and after for measuring the level of satisfaction with the method of exchanging data and information with the Ministry of Eenvironment and the extent of availability of this data in adequate approach, as well as the preparation of workshops directed to 25 specialized journalists to introduce the concept of crises and environmental disasters and the technology used in the Ministry of Eenvironment to predict the expected environmental degradation that may occur in the absence of good remediation of the environmental disaster. Thus, a questionnaire was prepared and distributed to 25 researched before and after the workshop.
One of the most important results of the research was: there are statistically significant differences between the average degrees of the experimental before and after in applications for testing environmental information in its dimensions, toward after application. In addition, there is a direct relationship between the implementation of the efficiency of dealing with and presenting press topics related to disasters and environmental accidents with the development of knowledge of simulation programs and management of environmental crises, as well as the existence of a direct relationship between the presentation of media for environmental issues in the form of questionnaires and figures supported by the simulation programs available with some misconceptions have changed among citizens and increased credibility with the data. It has been proven that there is an inverse relationship between the lack of data on environmental accidents and disasters and their lack of timely availability with appropriate coverage of environmental topics. Moreover, there is a direct link between the lack of channels of communication between the environmental disaster managers and the media, and directing relevant journalist to non-specialized sources that may amplify the scale.
Finally, this research recommended the need to prepare an integrated approach to raise awareness among journalists specializing in the field of environment about crisis management and environmental disasters and technology used and analysis of results.
