SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL VARIABLES ASSOCIATED WITH FOLK MEDICINE AND ITS RELATION TO PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN

Abstract

The study aims to reveal the most popular treatment methods practiced in the rural society and the urban society, as well as the detection of the difference between rural and urban in dealing with folk medicine in the motives, effects and activities practiced.The researchers used the methodology of social survey in the sample: it is one of the methods that seek to describe and analyze the phenomenon or society studied and allows to obtain as much information as possible and know the real dimensions of that phenomenon, and applied the case study methodology to deepen the study and get more accurate results and reach Real facts related to the circumstances surrounding the sample members through which the qualitative aspects of the issues dealt with in the questionnaire can be identified.
To answer the research questions, follow the following procedures .The researchers conducted a survey of the society of the study and met with the members of the community and observe the urban aspects and ways of life and its manifestations. In this exploratory visit, a free investigation was conducted with the members of the study community in order to create an objective framework and a field conceptual model that helps researchers to design the study tool. 64). The researchers then carried out a pre - test of the questionnaire by applying it to 20 researchers in order to discover the suitability of the questionnaire, its relevance to the subject and the collection of the intended data, as well as the errors in the formulation, re - ordination and arrangement of the questions. The study concluded that the majority of the study sample, whether in rural or urban areas, believes that people often use herbal treatments for economic conditions first, or sometimes due to popular culture inherited from herbs and that it is an alternative treatment that can provide healing to the patient. The main recommendations of the study: The National Council for Women 0 awareness campaigns for rural women to raise awareness of health to eliminate the myths prevalent in the rural community, to find some kind of control on the trade of herbs to be under medical supervision.
