Abstract

The study aimed to measure the impact of university students' use of a social networking site and its relationship to cognitive effects and attitudes towards reducing the dangers of electronic waste. It was distributed to a sample from Cairo University and Ain Shams University, and the hypotheses were tested statistically using the statistical program. The study concluded that social networking sites are among the most important methods and means of environmental awareness, especially Facebook. All respondents of Egyptian university students have an account on Facebook, and therefore they use it more. Unlike other social networking sites, Facebook contributes effectively to environmental awareness and the definition of the dangers of electronic waste and the damage it causes, by providing information about preserving the environment, and publishing topics on environmental education, teaching students that electronic waste is a real wealth that benefits the national economy in If it is recycled, the study recommends the need to introduce related concepts e-waste in curricula and universities to raise the level of awareness and knowledge among university and school students of the dangers of e-waste, and means of recycling it safely on the environment, creating websites and specialized pages, to disseminate knowledge of the types of e-waste and recycling, and raise awareness of the commercial and industrial value of waste, which contributes to knowledge The community is aware of environmental issues such as pollution in its various forms and contributes to protecting the environment.
