A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF HUMAN ENVIRONMENTAL RIGHTS IN EGYPTIAN AND INTERNATIONAL LAWS AND LEGISLATIONS AND THE EXTENT OF PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THEM

Abstract

The current study aimed to study the environmental rights of human beings in Egyptian and international laws and legislations and the extent of public awareness of them at the national, regional and international levels, given the importance of environmental rights for members of society in order to ensure a safe quality of life for them and a future for future generations. These rights are no less important than any other rights, so ensuring environmental rights It is a guarantee for the continuity of humanity, as these rights may be represented in clean air free from pollution, safe drinking water, good education, adequate housing, healthy food, the right to safety, the right to deal, the right to an adequate income for living, the right to participation, the right In sources and natural resources, the right to legislate. Based on that, a descriptive and analytical approach was used. A list of environmental rights was prepared, and the Egyptian and international constitutions and laws were analyzed in light of the list of environmental rights. Also, a questionnaire of environmental rights was applied to two groups, the first from Egypt, amounting to (200) and the second from Austria, which amounted to (200), and the study found the absence of some environmental rights in constitutions and laws, as well as the existence of a lack of public awareness of environmental rights in Egypt, while the awareness of environmental rights varied in Austria.
The study recommended the need to include environmental rights more deeply in constitutions and laws, as well as newspapers, media and other cultural media in general.
