Abstract

Letter Extract The study aimed at developing a proposed framework for environmental review to develop environmental performance within educational institutions in general and Egyptian universities in particular, and includes under this main objective a set of sub-objectives that can be summarized as follows: clarifying the social and environmental responsibility of Egyptian universities and their role in developing the awareness of members of the community and modifying their behavior in order to preserve the environment, and clarify the importance of environmental review and its requirements and the role it plays in improving the environmental performance of Egyptian universities. To achieve these goals, the application method and statistical analysis were relied upon using spss for data and information in the community service sector and environmental development within the administrative units of Ain Shams University. The study found that environmental review must be applied within Egyptian universities and that the development of environmental performance is linked to the existence of environmental review where the role of environmental review reflects positively on environmental performance. The study recommended that educational institutions apply environmental review and activate the role they play in reviewing activities with environmental impact and therefore the need to apply the proposed framework for environmental review to ensure the environmental commitment of those institutions.
