Abstract

The aim of the research is to present a proposed model for the application of environmental management systems to market waste in the Al-Zawiya Al-Hamra neighborhood, as well as to identify the reality of environmental management within the neighborhood and ways to deal with waste extracted from the various activities of the markets, in order to develop a sustainable vision for the safe disposal of these wastes, and economic benefit from them. According to an integrated environmental management, to preserve human and material resources, and the security, health and safety of the citizens surrounding the markets. To achieve the objectives of the research, a questionnaire was designed and distributed to a sample of (45) individual officials and employees of the environmental management within the neighborhood. The researchers used the descriptive analytical approach to complete the study, and appropriate statistical tests to test the validity of the hypotheses and answer the questions of the study.
The results of the study concluded that there is a statistically significant correlation between the application of environmental management systems and the reduction of market waste by (0.925), at a significant level (0.001), as it was found that there is a correlation Statistically significant between the application of environmental management systems and the achievement of the environmental dimension within the markets with a percentage of (0.898), at a significant level of (0.001), and In light of the findings of the study, several recommendations were concluded, the most important of which are: Adopting the application of the proposed model for the current study to apply environmental management systems to market waste inside the neighborhood; The results of the study showed the importance of environmental management systems in reducing the accumulation of waste, and economic benefit from it, and achieving the environmental dimension, as well as the need to pay attention to the dissemination and adoption of the application of environmental management systems within all institutions because of their executive mechanism to achieve environmental, social and development goals.
